Mr. Long is a graduate of Wyoming Catholic College, where his major in liberal arts provides a well rounded education. He has enjoyed teaching children of all ages for several years. He also literally soars with the children during dance especially after winning a competition with his swing dance group. He not only uses his teaching skills during class time but in the after school care he tutors students with homework and more hands on projects.
Mr. Hammond: Service-Learning Teacher
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them…Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand. – Albert Einstein
I feel the call to help children and adolescents navigate a world where the natural, moral call of service to others has been usurped. I believe we can teach our children to be the humane creators of the future.
I have spent the last quarter-century of my life honing my skills as a teacher, bridge-builder and servant-leader. All over the world crossing different cultures and educations. My expertise is in building bridges between cultures – whether those cultures be ethnic, socio-economic, organizational, philosophical or inter-generational. My experiences in bridge-building and teaching have taken me around the globe twice with extended stays in Mexico, China and SE Asia. I take this education and apply it to the classes that I teach at Almondale.
I also happily share my music skills — piano, guitar, drums, voice and composition training — with the students weekly. This includes helping the student put together plays and musicals.
